Guest of Honor, Terry Funk
There isn't a territory that Funk hasn't touched down in. The former NWA Heavyweight Champion is
consistently revered as one of the sport's all time greats. His influence is seen in contemporary talent
and his contribution to all federations he's worked for is undeniable. His image has transcended the
sport onto the big screen and small screen.
Blah, blah, blah...enough of all these PWI newsclippings...Terry is gonna be on the hotseat and we're
digging up friends and foes from his four decade career to tell us a side of Terry none of us have seen!
Host, Bill Apter
Apter is probably the most recognizable and successful photographer/writer in the history of wrestling
media. When wrestling boomed in popularity in the 1980s, Apter's (or Stanley Weston's) magazines
exploded in popularity to such a degree that Apter soon became a major factor in individual wrestlers'
popularity.
Apter is now a feature columnist for Fighting Spirit magazine. The magazine covers professional
wrestling along with MMA.
Kevin Sullivan
Kevin has worked in and booked for pro wrestling for many years. Kevin's paths crossed with Terry
numerous times under the NWA banner.
But more important than Kevin's legacy in the ring and in the booking office is his ability to single
handedly get Ring Roasts I back on track after an unwelcomed interruption. The event got more out of
control than Buzz Sawyer in an opium den and Kevin grabbed the mic and steered the evening back on
track. ALL HAIL THE BOOKERMAN!
Dennis Stamp
HE'S BOOKED! The AWA Rookie of the Year in 1971 and three-time Brass Knuckles Champion has
traveled the NWA, winning several different titles in the course of his career. Stamp worked extensively
with the Funks in Amarillo.
Dennis came to worldwide acclaim in the feature film Beyond the Mat for giving Terry a world of shit for
not booking him as the referee in Terry's retirement match. One of them.
Well now, the years of keeping in shape and getting ready for the spotlight are going to pay off as Stamp
heads to the podium on October 23 to roast his longtime friend and foe.
Ryan Maher
Ryan Maher is a comedian who spent 8 years on the pro wrestling indy scene as a manager, booker,
and promoter before making the transition to stand up comedy. Who knows what the hell he considers
himself these days.
Since becoming a full time stand up comic Ryan has appeared on Comcast television and On Demand
and has been heard on Sirius Satelite Radio. He has opened for top comedians such as: Jackie "The
Jokeman" Martling, Rev. Bob Levy, Patrice O'neal, Nick Dipaolo, Jim Florentine, and Robert Kelly of
"Dane Cook's Tourgasm"
New Jack
He's as dangerous inside the ring as he is outside. New Jack became an icon for violence under the
ECW banner where he spent time with Terry. Jack is never short of words, as evidenced by the night he
hijacked the mic for 30 minutes at Terry Funk's retirement dinner. One of them.
New Jack is ready to sound off again on October 23!
Mick Foley
We had to think long and hard before inviting Mick. He just hasn't done enough outside the ring. But we
figured what the hell.
Terry and Mick will be inexorably linked forever. Their displays of bloodletting in Japan is stuff of lore, and
their continuation of that in the US has made them favorites of hardcore fans. Mick's uncanny ability to
endure punishment and pain have made him an oddity on par with Funk. Both guys can take it as well as
dish it out.
Well on October 23, Mick will be doing a little dishing out in Terry's direction again...this time in the verbal
joust that is The Roast! And if he tries to gig him with a cheese grater we probably won't jump in the way.
Mike Graham
There isn't much Mike hasn't done in pro wrestling, except Ring Roasts. So we'll put that item to bed
when he joins the star-studded panel for Ring Roasts 2.
Son of legendary Eddie Graham, Mike worked Florida for years and will probably be most closely
associated with that territory for obvious reasons. But Mike has also held gold in the AWA, in addition to
the numerous NWA belts he wore. Mike was also a trainer and road agent for WCW. But now he trains
his sights on his long-time friend Terry Funk!
Superstar Graham
Ventura and Hogan applied his mold to their careers. Countless others have tried to emulate his
captivating promo skills. And far more should have. He's the man of the hour, the man with the power.
Too sweet to be sour.
Superstar Billy Graham has held WWWF gold and made a monumental impact on the business, but
that will all pale in comparison to this impending appearance on the dais in Monroe, NJ. Graham is
headed to Ring Roasts 2 and ready to open that poetic and prolific mouth into the mic!
King Kong Bundy
From the main event at Wrestlemania 2 to a return spot here at Ring Roasts 2! Exactly as he imagined it
would be as he was handed that hefty check after climbing out of that blue cage in 1986.
Well, I guess we did something right because he's back! This time Terry Funk is the target and the Big
Guy has a few more tricks up his sleeves. Or in his pants, if you remember last year.
Missy Hyatt
She's been everywhere and done it all! Ahem...
"The First Lady of Pro Wrestling" is on her way to Monroe, NJ to honor/skewer The Funker. Missy rose
through the ranks the old school way...touring the country, working the territories, working the big feds.
And now you can see her take the mike and run the show for a few minutes, reminiscent of those old
WWE "Missy's Manor" segments with one big difference...you'll actually see this one.
Sean Morton
The only thing that Sean Morton loves as much as stand up comedy is professional wrestling. Sean will
bring his knowledge of ring history to this roast, along with his own unique sense of humor.
Sean Morton has performed in all of the major comedy venues in New York and New Jersey and has
opened for numerous national headliners, including Rev. Bob Levy and The Killers of Comedy.
Matt Bridgestone
Matt grew up on a steady diet of old school Wrestling. As a child he dreamed of being a famous
wrestler. Realistic Matt. Lots of skinny Jews making it big in the WWE these days.
Matt has been able to appear on both the Howard Stern and Opie and Anthony shows. He's also worked
with comics such as Jim Breuer and Jim Norton. Matt says this is a dream come true for him. "As a
child I used to love watching Terry Funk putting people to sleep. Sadly, most of the time it was the
audience that was sleeping." Matt is prepared to talk lots of shit about New Jack to his face on October
23!
Kevin Von Erich
The Von Erich family dynasty needs NO introduction or explanation at all. And with Lacey now carrying
the great tradition, we decided to ask her uncle, some guy named Kevin, to be a part of the roast and
represent the Von Erich family.
Kevin has agreed to join the show and add some more color to the evening. Wonder what he has to
say about Terry? Must be a Texas thing.
